Somanna is doing his Ph.D. candidate work in the lab. He is studying the genome of clinical isolates of Mycobacterium tuberculosis to identify drug-resistant mutations and understand the expression pattern of stress associated genes in drug-resistant strains.

Koushik is working on the DBT funded project 'Unravelling the adaptive genome evolution by whole-genome sequencing of Drosophila nasuta nasuta and laboratory evolved four hybrid strains, cytoraces.' His thesis is entitled ‘Unravelling the genomic organization of chromosomes 2 and 4 in six members of the nasuta-albomicans complex of Drosophila by Whole genome sequencing, gene expression, and regulation profile'.

She is doing her Ph.D. work in the lab. She is mainly interested in genomics of raciation and how chromosomal fusion influences it. She is using the nasuta-albomicans complex of Drosophila as study model wherein 3rd autosome and sex chromosomes exist in both independent and fused state.
